Sandy shorts and microwave S´mores

In the first week of spring break, my host sister Alexa, two of Alexa´s closest friends and I went to North Webster, a small town situated in Indiana´s lakes region. After an adventurous car drive we finally arrived at a house by a lake. After we had the best pancakes I have ever eaten for breakfast, we went antique shopping in cute vintage shops all day. We all had a lot of fun rummaging through records and looking for old paintings and antique furniture.  When we drove back home, we got some movies at the Redbox and Pizza for a movie night.

The next day, we went to St. Joseph, a city in southwest Michigan, on the shores of Lake Michigan. The sun was shining, the air smelled like the sea, the waves were loud and the grass on the dunes were moving with the wind. We were walking along the Silver Beach laughing, dancing, taking pictures- just having lots of fun. With sand in our shoes we headed back to the house by the lake. It was way too cold to do a bonfire, but because we all had been exited for S´mores all day, we decided to make them in the microwave.  (For those who do not know what S´mores are: imagine them as a marshmallow and a piece of chocolate between two graham crackers) They were still delicious!

Those days were some of the best in my life. I am pretty sure I will still tell my grandchildren about the spring break trip I did when I was in America, 2018.
