Last Wonderful Weekend (07.04/08.04)

I really liked them and I wish I would be able to see them once more again. But I don’t have any information about their personalities so it could be a bit difficult…

After they left with our host-father we called Paula and asked her whether she would like to spend the day with us. And so we did. So we picked her up and afterwards went shopping at Muncie Mall. It was pretty funny but we made a big mistake: we went into a book store. And they had a lot of books for sale… Well, I think I need to put all books into my backpack for the flight because otherwise my suitcase would be too heavy. After we finished our shopping tour my host-mother picked us up again and we went home for having lunch and trying on some costumes for our farewell party the other day. It was so much fun!

In the evening we went to an ice cream store called Ivanhoe’s. I think it is pretty popular because they have 100 different kinds of sundaes as well as 100 different shakes. It was difficult to decide which ice cream I should take but in the end I took a Banana Blue (vanilla ice cream with blueberries ad banana pieces) and it was so delicious! And also pretty much so I didn’t need anything for dinner anymore.

Sunday started late and with a rumbling stomach. So we had breakfast and then we waited until noon (which wasn’t that much later because we got up at about 9:20 am) because we left for going into several stores for handcrafting. In between we also had lunch at our new favorite restaurant Panera Bread. I already looked it up but unfortunately we don’t have something like that in Germany…) However when we came back it probably was about 2:30 pm and we still had to prepare many things for the farewell party at 6 pm. So we started right of the bat with making some cards and decorating a jar, our present for Mrs. Rohde. We also managed to finish everything, but therefor we didn’t had that much time to get ready by ourselves. So we really had to hurry up.

However we somehow managed to be early enough for the party. Before Mrs. Rohde and Mrs. Mock gave a speech, Mrs. Rohde showed me the presents for the teachers which she placed on stage behind the curtain, so that I would know which one is for who because I was going to give the speech with Felix afterwards. Luckily there were some cards on each of the presents with names on it because I had forgotten everything right after we left the stage again…

Then the teachers gave their speech in front of all the other students and opened the buffet. I actually ate less than I thought I would eat. One reason for that was probably the slideshow that was shown and I didn’t want to get up and disturb it… I couldn’t really enjoy the meal because I was sooooo nervous! My hands were shaking horribly and my fingers were as cold as ice. And when the show started and we were standing behind the curtain it got even worse. But in the end our sketch, the speech and the song we all sang together in the end of the show, actually the whole show was so good. We all had a lot of fun and there was also no mistake or something that could make it worse.

But I didn’t really feel like it was our last weekend. It felt as if we had just arrived. Luckily there are a few days left so I will enjoy them. Probably it’s the last time I will spend time in this country and with these amazing people…
